Using 60’s Motown rhythms over Richard Archer’s grating ‘suvvern’ drawl, ‘Can’t Get Along’ is a softer take on Hard-Fi’s usual style. In yet another of their Naomi Klein pilfering antics their cover is clearly meant to be symbolic. The chorus is catchy enough for the milkman to whistle, it just doesn’t quite match up to their grand ideas. There may be a string section in the background but the lyrics are still about getting beaten up by undesirables outside chip shops. Some things never change.
