Apparently all has not been running smoothly in the build up to the worldâs biggest concert, Live8.
Stars performing at the huge event have been whinging about their place in Geldofâs line-up and trying to jiggle things around to ensure the best spots. And certain pop divas have been battling it out for the best backstage facilities.
A Live8 insider explained: âThe British acts and the people playing here really want to get involved and help the world. Thereâs no doubt about that. But like every big event with international stars there are rivalries and every act wants to make sure they are remembered for putting on the best showâ
âU2 were a big band before the original Live Aid but went stratospheric after their performance at Wembley 20 years ago. Today, someone else will cement their place in music folklore.â
Furthermore, the Daily Star has reported today that performers refused to take part in the American concert unless they got a goodie bag from the promoters like the ones received by the likes of Destinyâs Child, Alicia Keys and Bon Jovi. These âswag-bagsâ are worth thousands of dollars and stuffed with designer clothes and jewellery.
US organisers also plan to give away Gibson guitars, watches and radios, the âbag organiser,â aptly named Nicole Cashman said:
âWe want this to be a âthank-youâ to the celebrities who are giving up their time and energies.â
And thereâs us thinking that helping the worldâs poorest people was thanks enoughâŚ
