Velvet Revolver's Slash 'To Mentor American Idol Stars'

Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash is to mentor contestants on American Idol.

Slash will help the wannabe stars during Rock Week, according to a post on his Twitter micro-blog.

He wrote: “American Idol has asked me to do the mentor bit for Rock Week.”

The former Guns N' Roses guitarist will join a host of stars, including Mariah Carey and Neil Diamond, who have tutored hopefuls on the show.

American Idol has launched the careers of the likes of Jennfier Hudson, Kelly Clarkson and David Cook.
