More Glastonbury Festival
Crime at this year's Glastonbury Festival rocketed due to the good weather, Somerset police have revealed.
Figures recently released show that reported crime in 2008 was up 78percent on the year before, with 751 reported incidents compared to 422 the year before.
They are the highest figures since 2003 when Glastonbury was last blessed with sunshine instead of heavy rain.
Superintendent Adrian Combs said: “The better the weather the higher the crime levels. This year’s were similar to those in 2003 when there was also good weather.”
Despite more crime being reported to police, arrests were only up marginally with only 16 more than 2007.
Tickets for Glastonbury 2009 went on sale on October 5, six months earlier than usual, with over half going on the first day.
