Dizzee Rascal pulled out of his appearance at the Zoo8 Festival last Friday (July 4th) because organisers missed three scheduled payments, his management company says.
The UK grime stars' withdrawal from the event was one of a number of issues that arose during the festival in Kent, which saw appearances from The Hives and Mark Ronson.
In a statement, Dirtee Stank Recordings said they were aware of “constant rumours” in the build up to the festival about poor ticket sales.
And Rascal's agency, Primary Talent, advised the star to pull out if payment had not been received.
“Although a deposit had been paid the promoters of Zoo8 missed 3 scheduled payments and we had failed to receive any payment by late afternoon on Friday July 4th,” the statement reads.
“Due to the fact that at least ten other acts with our agent had failed to receive any form of payment, we followed Primary's advice and withdrew from the show.”
Fans have continued to voice their anger at the festivals organisers, with many saying facilities were poor and the event was understaffed.
An official statement from the organisers is expected shortly.
