More Glastonbury Festival
More Glastonbury Festival Michael Eavis has hinted that he may drop the registration system he has used for Glastonbury tickets for the past two years.
Eavis told Music Week that he may use the simultaneous registration and purchase of tickets system which he implemented after ticket initially failed to sell out for the festival.
However, some promoters say the registration process is flawed because it is putting potential punters off going to the world renowned event.
Veteran promoter Vince Power, who founded Mean Fidddler, told the BBC: “The registration has annoyed people – this whole business of the anticipation of trying to get a ticket, not get a ticket.
"Michael came back with his own way and created this hugely complicated entry system which kills the spirit of a festival in my opinion.”
Power says that Eavis should be less concerned with touts when setting up the ticket buying process.
He added: It’s free enterprise isn’t it? If somebody buys a ticket and their really clever enough to sell it for four times its value – I would like to shake their hand."
