More Glastonbury Festival
More Glastonbury Festival Glastonbury Festival organiser Michael Eavis has slammed the Governments decision not to ban the secondary ticket market.
"Nobody likes touts and I don't see why they can't push through a simple law to do something about it,” Eavis told Sky News. “I hate it.”
In a report published today (January 10th), The Culture, Media and Sport select committee instead suggested that a “voluntary solution” be found to the problem.
Eavis is among a number of promoters who have campaigned for a complete ban on ticket-touting.
However, ticket resale sites, such as eBay and Seatwave, believe that fans should have a second opportunity to buy tickets to events which have sold out.
This year’s Glastonbury Festival will once again use a ticket registration process to prevent tickets falling into the hands of touts who then sell them on for profit.
Eavis said he would have considered the future of the festival had last year’s event, which used the process for the first time, not proved successful in combating the problem.
